*gasp* i forgot to eat! and now i'm late! i really should eat a mealâah, yes! ugh hey munchies! i'm alyssia if you're new, welcome tothe channel! today i'm going to do something i've neverdone before meal replacements.
i am not generally for meal replacements,i like to eat more than i like to drink beverages, so i usually choose food i have to chew over sip. but, sometimes i'm in a rush or in an on-the-gosituation and, in those cases, a drink can be an efficient way to get in a healthy meal. rather than skipping meals, keep your body fueled with a healthy meal replacement smoothie and fill you up. first of all no, i don't mean actuallyblending up meals like you saw in the intro, but… a lot of people use regular smoothies as meal replacements, but those aren't really meals.
so, when developing these recipes, i thought about what makes a meal for me. so i like to have some fruits, some vegetables, and some protein and grains, so you will see some funky ingredients in these smoothies. but fret not âi tested them all to makesure they are tasty, and often, those ingredients are so sneaky you can’t even detect them. first up is the berry refreshing protein smoothie! the ingredients you will need are almond milk, coconut water, frozen strawberries, cucumber (which adds a refreshing flavor and nutrients), tofu (for a boost of protein), honey, and ice.
smoothies are easy—just blend everything up! i love using frozen fruit in my smoothiesbecause it means i need less ice, if any at all! this smoothie is cool, fresh, and you’llnever know that the tofu is there to make it a heartier meal! next up is my sweet potato carrot pie smoothie…one of my favorites! the ingredients you will need are nut milkof choice—if you can find walnut or pecan milk, those are fun flavors that vibe with the rest of the ingredients, but any kind of milk will really do—carrot juice, roastedsweet potato cubes, whole carrots, greek
(or coconut milk yogurt for vegan), vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, honey, and ice. i honestly don’t need the honey in thissmoothie, since this is a “meal replacement†i don’t need too much sweetness, but i know a lot of people are more accustomed to having sweet smoothies, so feel free to adjust to your preference. don’t get too caught up in smoothie recipes—you don’t really need one. add liquid to thin or add ice to thicken and just go with it! we had to have a green smoothie, and today i am sharing this avocado banana smoothie! the ingredients you’ll need are almond milk, cooked quinoa (which is a surprising smoothie ingredient but integrates really well, whilealso adding nutritious carbs and protein),
a frozen banana (and remember– the more brown spots, the sweeter it will be!), avocado, spinach, and maple syrup to sweeten if needed. i almost think it’s a sin to not add spinach to a smoothie because you literally would never know it’s there, if it weren’t turningyour smoothie bright green! what an easy way to add in those veggies! this smoothie covers all of the groups wementioned earlier in a deliciously sneaky way! don’t forget to hit that subscribe buttonand the bell so you are notified each week of new content!
we’ve got new goods coming for you all the time! next i’ve got a cheeky blueberry coconutsmoothie. the ingredients you will need are coconutmilk, blueberries, cooked beets, white beans, coconut sugar, and coconut shreds. now those are some wacky ingredients—beetsand beans? i know! but don’t knock it ‘til you try it…honestly, the beans add a great, thick texture and the beets flavor is slight, but adds beautiful color. it’s always more fun to eat more beautifulfoods!
the last one i’ve got for you is myvanilla almond pr-oat-ein smoothie… get it? pr-oat-ein? because there are oats? the ingredients you will need are almond milk, protein powder (you could use vanilla flavor or plain), cauliflower florets—say whaaaat? don’t worry… oats, almonds, and a freshvanilla bean. if you use sweetened protein powder, you won’t need any sweetener, but if you use plain you may want some.
the fresh vanilla bean makes this one feelvery gourmet, and i promise, you won’t even know the cauliflower is there! thumbs up for including fruits, veggies, proteins, and grains in your smoothies! that is how you replace a meal. if you found this video fun or useful feelfree to share it! and a bonus to my loyal munchies who stick around—you know i love you—i’ve got another smoothie on my facebook page today. it is a chunky monkey smoothie
with an unexpected ingredient… check it out at facebook.com/mindovermunch. if you have any favorite smoothie recipes, feel free to share them in the comments below!
i will see you next week, and remember! it’s all a matter of mind over munch.
